Hello, my name is Kiyara Grosz and I'm currently an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Rojas's lab. I'm a local of Nebraska and began my journey with plant pathology in Dr. Yuen's introductory course. The same man introduced me to Dr. Rojas's brand-new lab. My work began by helping to establish the new lab while Dr. Rojas and her staff moved to this university. After the labs were fit for use, I began assisting Ph.D. student Shilu Dahal in her work with Burkholderia glumae in rice, specifically in creating biological control agents to reduce Bacterial Panicle Blight caused by B. glumae. Today, I continue with that work more intimately, doing everything from potting the plants, nurturing them delicately, and subsequently inflicting them with the bacteria I also nurtured delicately. In this project, there's always work to be done, and I strive to do my share and more.
